Sit Down and Unwind

Don’t you hate it when your bills pile up and threaten to overwhelm you with their demands? What about all those notes the kids bring home from school? There are always errands to run, too, the grocery store, the cleaners, then you need to pay the car insurance and pick up the kids from ballet. The list is endless. Sometimes when life gets hectic, running harder and faster is not the answer. Sometimes you have to sit yourself down and take a break from it all.

For a lot of women, there is no better way to unwind than to settle on the couch with a pile of yarn and knit a hat or a scarf or some socks. Others set up the sewing machine and sew curtains, a new dress for their niece or piece together a quilt. Some people like to scrapbook and others enjoy rejuvenating antiques or repainting the bedroom. The list of crafty things to do goes on and on and it’s certain there’s even more that has yet to be conceived of. Chances are you have a gift for this kind of work or at least an interest in it and if that’s the case, there’s never been a better time to dive into your hobby or create a new one.

Don’t wait until the rest of your life settles down, it never will. Take some time out for yourself, to create, to enjoy, to do what makes you unique. Never feel guilty about those moments you have carved out for yourself. Being creative is what makes us feel fully human, and we live in an age when there are so many ways to express ourselves. No more excuses! Get started now. And if you need a little inspiration, browsing through a few craft web sites is just the thing that will get your mind ticking.
